Dr. Marcella Kaplan leads the Multimodal Access and Transportation for All (MATA) Lab and is a Research Assistant Professor at the Center for Transportation Research at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. The MATA Lab conducts research on multi-modal transportation technologies, last-mile logistics, and the integration of technology-enabled mobility options to provide safe, accessible, and sustainable transportation solutions. Our research focuses on equitable transportation to identify and address disparities in access to transportation resources. By employing advanced transportation system modeling and simulations, we develop new, science-based approaches with practical applications. The MATA Lab conducts comprehensive research from conceptualization to implementation to develop findings that are both innovative and applicable to everyday challenges.
